Alan and Katherine
Alan Barnhart is the CEO of Barnhart Crane & Rigging. In his words, his company is in the business of moving really big stuff. When he and his wife Katherine finished college, they were preparing to be international missionaries. After a prayerful, hard-fought decision, they ended up taking over the family business instead.
Not enticed by riches, their business decisions regarding giving have led them to sign over 100% of their company, while maintaining operating rights, and they also live at a fixed salary. They believe their financial finish line frees them up to honor to Lord more easily in their living and giving, allowing them to embrace his plan with faithfulness and surrender.
Generous Giving starts conversations about the power of Jesus-like generosity and the freedom of a surrendered life. We believe stories are one of the best ways to start those conversations.
Beverly
Beverly Grant is a former Proctor & Gamble executive. After a 25-year career in business, she now runs her own consulting business in Cincinnati. Throughout her life, she has desired to be a surrendered follower of Christ, which included biblical giving.
Beverly’s story is one of ambitious generosity. She believes kingdom growth is more important than retirement growth, and a few years ago she gave away more money than she made. Her heart is set on a life of freedom and her actions match that.
Megan
Megan grew up in a Christian home where her parents emphasized generosity.
“As a child, I always had a few dollars in my pocket as I walked into the sanctuary,” Megan recalls. “My parents were not only generous at church but also with friends, family members, and strangers.”
Megan continued to give as she grew into a young adult, giving her car to someone in need rather than selling it and giving a portion of her income to the Christian Fellowship at Wharton Business School.
But her world was changing.
